I hope that by the time this issue comes out, Hillary Clinton is elected president and girls feel more empowered. My generation and I will become legal during this presidency.YS:Watch out 2035 — I’ll officially be qualified!Photo: Sean Thomas adidas 5 plug handball Growing up, in many ways I was the representation for myself. Some of my childhood modeling jobs were with Mattel and Disney, so I’d go into the Disney store and literally see me. My family was cleaning up the garage, and I found these life-size cutouts of 6-year-old me as the black Tinkerbell, black Cinderella, you name it, which is hilarious. But being the black version of so many characters brought up problems. You have to always question your politics: Am I being as inclusive as I possibly can? Is this thing that I said, could it be xenophobic? My worst fear is someone writing, “Rowan Blanchard, queen of feminism!” I’m like no. I am figuring this out just as much as you are. I am constantly trying to check my privilege. I sometimes get worried that my feminism is, like, too American. We can get lost in Taylor Swift fighting Kanye West instead of being like, there are so many Syrian refugees!Photo: Sean ThomasY+R ON THE FUTURERB: adidas 5 plug handball Despite wanting to share so much of himself with the world, he adores playing characters of all stripes, both those like him and unlike him.
