I knew from the start that language needed to be a part of it. Arabic is such a beautiful tongue, the rich and sometimes guttural sounds seemingly defined by the harsh atmosphere of the desert and its sweeping nights. It’s also a language made of countless dialects, which I drew upon in constructing the world. To combat this, I introduced a second tongue called Safaitic. It’s Arawiya’s equivalent of Arabic, but it’s an older, obsolete language which allowed me to either define words outright (thanks to dialect differences between characters) or via context. Of course, both tongues—Arawiyan and Safaitic—are Arabic here in the real world, but no one needs to know that!TV t shirt ralph lauren mariniere Ilhan Omar Shares Advice for Young People and How She Deals With IslamophobiaHaveyou t shirt ralph lauren mariniere
