Lewis’s life exemplified how nonviolent protest is the answer to oppression, injustice, and even for putting an end to America’s gun violence epidemic. Whether crossing the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, marching on Washington in 1963, orsitting in aubade maillot on the floor of the House of Representatives, Lewis led by example, and that example lives in all of us.
