The film he chooses to show is one of him, as a child, being questioned by his mother who explains that Hal’s dad killed the Conways because they were sinners and Hal was going to convince the escaped Conway (Mr. Svenson) not to identify his dad as the killer. Little Hal is easily persuaded that sinners deserve to die, etc., and wow, this is chilling.
