[It's funny though, because when I first moved here], I talked about music all the time, but I didn't play shows for a long time up until October of last year. I was making music, but I didn't play because it was just me by myself. I played one show where I was alone. It was so nerve-wracking and difficult. But now I have full live band, drums, guitar, and a keyboardist. We're doing songs completely live without backing tracks. Now it's super fun to play shows because I have musicians onstage with me. I came home, and I think it was in third grade, and I said, "Some boy touched my hair today and he said that it was weird." My mom told me that the next time somebody touched my hair that I'd have to go to the principal's office. If she hadn't told me that, I wouldn't have done that. That really was the point at which I started to stand up for myself. It still happened, and I'll explain to people why it's wrong, even though it's not my place to explain to them because it shouldn't... that should have been a given that they knew that you don't touch other people's hair, because it's dehumanizing. But it's... that's the best thing that I've learned so far.
