And with this, I'd ask us to reflect on the following: what does it mean to color a heavily racialized neighborhood light-skinned and white-adjacent for a national and international audience? If dark-skinned Black and dark-skinned non-Black actors were casted alongside some of the light-skinned actors, the screen could have opened portals to conversations about how diverse Latin American and Caribbean communities succeed and fail to show up for each other in the ever-present neighborhood of Washington Heights without having to change the script. In effect, this would have been a film that created profound conversations and potentially forged stronger relationships amongst marginalized communities within the âLatinxâ and Caribbean diaspora. adidas bb7568
