Well I think that I would have made different choices if I wasn’t a public figure. I definitely felt really scared for what was happening for me and what it was going to look like. The decision to do an article (read the full Pitchfork article here) in which I would share my story and publicly come out, I hate that word "come out" but I don’t really know what else to say, was basically a result of realizing that if I didn’t do it somebody else was going to tell the story, and they were going to most likely tell it based on false information. And honestly too many other people have told trans women’s stories historically. Ultimately I made the decision that I was gonna make an announcement so that I could tell my own story. Wich now as I look back I’m like "God that’s such an amazing privilege." I thought "How am I going to go through the most awkward time of my life in front of crowds of thousands every night" but then when I got some of those responses of people saying "I'm going through a similar thing, reading the article helped me" I was like "This isn’t actually about me."Instagram contentView on InstagramTV honda scooty all Since Ansel is quite the musician himself, even playing the piano in real life (like, of course, because he's perfect), this couldn't have been a better role for the guy who has totally taken over Hollywood this past year. We've already seen him in many different roles, but this one is bound to be an exciting change. And what was getting touched in me was that something about the way that that music unfolded and told its story, made me feel very at peace with myself. When I was in the sort-of world that that music created, I felt ok about who I was and who I was made sense. And I think that if I was to analyze that, I think that to some degree that Jimi Hendrix's music has a very high degree of abstraction because of its use of really complex timbral compositional devices, and you know a number of other things. So that in that plain of abstraction that that music created I was able to experience fluidity around gender that was more consistent with what my experience was. I definitely think that that's a big part of the music that I’ve created is to try to use sound as a way of creating a landscape. And so making music I think, for me was a way to stay in that landscape. So when I started to take music more seriously what became meaningful for me was to create that for other people… a sonic landscape in which whatever was going on for somebody could be given space and room and a place to unpack itself, and be itself.TV honda scooty all
