When I spoke to Hassima*, she was visibly trembling as she recounted the physical and psychological pain she went through. She is undergoing intensive treatment at a hospital in Chad to wean her off the drugs that she had been forced to take, making the tremors she experienced as side effects worse. Despite the suffering she went through, her hope is kept alive through her desire to go to school. She wants to learn languages including French and English so that one day she can travel, just like me. I can't help but wonder what will happen to this girl and her hope for the future if she isn’t able to go to school once her treatment is over.
