Another action we did was a demonstration at a major place in Santa Monica of what random searches look like. We purposely picked an area where we knew there would be people who might not know exactly what random searches are â those from middle-class backgrounds, who attend schools that are fully funded with resources â and raised awareness among those who stopped and watched our demonstration. We also recently went to the home of our superintendent, Austin Beutner, and that of our board president, Monica Garcia, to protest, standing up in defense of our public schools and taking a stand against privatization. seiko cosc Kylie Jenner, another frequent Met Gala attendee, is also skipping this year's event. “I'm so sad i couldn't make it this year. i can't wait to see all the looks,” she wrote on Instagram on Sept. 13. seiko cosc Campaign work can feel ephemeral; regardless of the outcome, once an election is over, a campaign dissolves. But campaign work can have an impact beyond Election Day. In South Philly, we are trying to build something that lasts — both for Fiedler’s office, and in the community as well. South Philly needs the leaders our volunteers have become. We’ve tried to help them build their skills and to think about how they can continue the work we’ve started together. This has been my favorite part of being a field director. seiko cosc I'm really tall [5'10''], and I grew really quickly. I actually kept growing until the age of 22. I thought I was going to be done [growing] at 17 or 18, and I grew another two inches, which is so weird. When I was younger, I had two huge growth spurts. At 13, I had my second one, and I stayed at 5'7'' for a bit. I felt really out of my body. I was really awkward. I didn't know how to use my limbs. I felt so uncomfortable in my own skin. Doing the musicals at my high school, everyone would make fun of the way that I danced. I have these really long arms and these long legs, and I didn't know how to use them. So working with Celia [Rowlson-Hall, choreographer] helped me connect to my body. I feel way more in my body now than I ever did before. It's nice to not feel so awkward. seiko cosc
