spoke with attorney Mariana Nogales Molinelli, who recounted a political action that took place during last year’s occupation and strike season. She said that on April 27, 2017, President Nivea Fernandez intended to announce a fiscal plan to La Junta that included several campus closures outside of San Juan and a near-tripling of matriculation fees. In response to the impending announcement, students formed a negotiating committee. Like La Coja, they wished that the university would listen to their concerns.
