both massive programs, gathering data on Muslim citizens and the use of confidential informants to spy on Muslim-Americans in places of worship. The FBI — which, during this period, had essentially eliminated safeguards imposed in response to the intelligence community’s civil rights abuses during the 1960s and '70s — infiltrated Muslim communities (particularly in Dearborn, Michigan, and New York), fraying the social fabric and eroding trust in law enforcement. (Ironically, none of these actions supported the government’s purported goal of counterterrorism.Americans are much more likely to die pillow slippers and others, we must isolate ourselves to reduce the transmission rate and spread the number of infections out over a longer period of time. This reduces and delays the peak number of cases (âflattens the curveâ) to reduce the burden on our health care system. This allows hospitals more time to build their emergency capacity so that they will be less overwhelmed at the peak. I realized that Marsha’s life had been deemed unimportant and unworthy of documenting by historians who have never cared about the lives of black trans and gender nonconforming people. Historical erasure of black trans life means so many of us are disconnected from the legacies of trans women before us, denied access to stories about ourselves, in our own voices.
