I guess my best advice is always to try to involve yourself into anything you could. Can you intern somewhere? Could you lend a helping hand? How could you be part of something that you love? Especially with fashion, there's a lot of opportunities I believe. Ask yourself, "Oh I could help dress that show," or, "I could help a friend that's making their own clothes." I mean, when I was a student, I did like everything that I could. Like, I helped sew someone else's clothes, I modeled in someone's something, I helped dress at some place, I helped do PR, I helped with whatever that was available that someone needed in any realm of fashion, I was there. And I wasn't too good to, or too snobby to, or too like, "well, I only want to design," or, "I only wanna do something that's only creative." It's like, I was excited though. And I tried to be within the world of whatever I liked to be. I mean, I was an intern at Moschino PR actually. And look at me now, I think that I'm a testament to that belief that volunteering, and doing things around the things that you love, it's the best way to learn.TV: messi new boots in Tennessee, she has realized (like so many people with privilege have over the past four years) the inherent tension and occasional hopelessness of the fact that you can use whatever voice you have to empower marginalized groups and advocate for systemic policy change — and then still have to live in the world we’ve got.Let us slide into your DMs.Sign up for theTeen Voguedaily emailWant more fromTeen Vogue?
