Watch all three charming minutes up top, and then come back for the bonus hilarity here:ContentView Iframe URLThe newWonder Woman star wars stan smiths From the start, part of running the field office also meant coordinating childcare (something I wish more campaigns would do). Fiedler is running for office as the mother of two young children; our finance director also has young kids, as do many of our volunteers. Because families are a welcome and essential part of our campaign, childcare is, too. So our office has a room dedicated to childcare and I make sure we have a childcare schedule along with our canvassing shifts and campaign events. star wars stan smiths Another action we did was a demonstration at a major place in Santa Monica of what random searches look like. We purposely picked an area where we knew there would be people who might not know exactly what random searches are â those from middle-class backgrounds, who attend schools that are fully funded with resources â and raised awareness among those who stopped and watched our demonstration. We also recently went to the home of our superintendent, Austin Beutner, and that of our board president, Monica Garcia, to protest, standing up in defense of our public schools and taking a stand against privatization. star wars stan smiths As a field director, I train people to have effective canvassing conversations which bring out their own voice and their own stake in this election — and help them find the best ways to be effective in our community. I write sample scripts to model our ideal way of engaging our neighbors in longer, more meaningful conversations at the door. In training, our volunteers practice and personalize these conversations, learn more about why this kind of “deep canvassing” is effective, and are also taught about specific procedures (like how to collect ballot access petition signatures). Outside of these group trainings, I also have one-on-one meetings with volunteers throughout the week to help develop and support their leadership roles. star wars stan smiths
